Maths this week in MSR
This week MSR has been looking at multiplication and division.
Students have been enjoying playing division and multiplication relays, with congratulations going to Cassandra who was our winner on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
A reminder to all students in MSR is to keep practising your times tables each night.
Here's a brain teaser for both parents and students:
If you were to construct a 8 x 8 checkered square (i.e., a 8 x 8 chess board), how many squares would there be in total?

Our New Mascot
A few weeks ago MSR got a new mascot (after Sparkles unfortunately passed away :( ). Our new mascot is Glitter and she's a beautiful blue budgerigar.
Briony, (Glitter's owner), wrote out this procedure to follow to clean Glitter's cage:
Things you need:
1. Get out the seed bowl and the water.
2. Empty out the old water into the sink or outside and the seed into the bin.
3. Pull the tray out of the cage.
4. Go and put the piece of paper from the bottom of the cage in the bin.
5. Go and clean the tray.
6. Place a fresh piece of paper in the tray.
7. Unclick the cage.
8. Place the cage on the tray.
9. Take all the toys out and wash them.
10. Fill up the water.
11. Fill up the food.
12. Clip the cage back up.
13. Put the toys water and food all back in the cage.
14. Wash your hands.
15. You have completed washing the cage.

Mathematics this week in MSR
This week, MSR has been doing Mapping and Location in Mathematics. Students have enjoyed creating maps of their ideal classrooms and will soon create a map of their own imaginary island.
Preston Market by Jack
PRESTON MARKET
Last Thursday, Middle School went on an excursion to the Preston Market for our 'Healthy Eating' inquiry unit.
All of the Middle School got on the bus . When we all got there, we split up into our groups. I had Charlie, Bridie, Matt, Abby and Shakira in my group.
We all went to buy our food for lunch. The Preston Market was VERY BUSY.

Preston Market by Ryan
Preston Market
Last Thursday, Middle School went to the Preston Market. In my group I had Max, Jordy and Rueben. We went to the Preston Market because we were learning about fruit and vegetables.
We had to go to all different shops and at one shop we got a free toffee.
We met back with the other Middle School students and went back to school to try all the foods. I tried a octopus.
I made my wrap and in it I put butter, ham and cheese. The Preston Market is the best!
